EU institutions reach agreement on Interreg

The European institutions have reached a provisional agreement on the European territorial cooperation and the financing of cross-border projects for 2021-2027. The total amount of resources through the EU's Interreg instrument amounts to 8 Billion EUR. The Parliament and Council are expected to endorse the content of the agreement.

The main target of this call is national, regional, local public authorities and other relevant bodies responsible for developing and implementing regional development policies

The resources are divided as follows.:

  • Cross-border cooperation (Interreg A; 72,2%)
  • Transnational cooperation (Interreg B: 18,2%)
  • Interregional cooperation (Interreg C: 6,1%)
  • Outermost regions' cooperation (Interreg D: 3,5%)

The Co-financing rate of the programmes is set at a maximum of 80% of the funds to be provided by the EU, up to 85% for the outermost regions.
